Rotating Feature for a Client
In a summer of record-breaking heat and inflation, many customers are struggling to keep their homes cool without causing their bank accounts to overheat. Here are three affordable ways to help keep your home cool this summer!
1. Cooling Curtains
While cooling curtains may sound expensive, they are a simple tried-and-true life hack to help keep your home cool. All you need to do is open your windows, hang light curtains (or even a sheet) over your window, and spritz your curtains with cold water or dip the hems in a bucket of cold water to avoid repeatedly spraying them. This simple trick causes the breeze flowing through the open windows to evaporate the cold water on the curtains and cool your house down.
2. Purchase a Dehumidifier
Indoor humidity levels should stay near 40%-50%, which can be a challenge in extreme heat. Dehumidifiers eliminate excess moisture in the air, and many have sensors that turn the dehumidifier off once the ideal humidity levels are reached. You can also use the excess water collected to water plants or make cooling curtains.
3. Invest in a Cool Roof
Cool roofs can be created using reflective tiles, shingles, or paint. They reflect sunlight and help keep your home cool in the summer. Best of all, cool roofs can be installed on nearly any type of building and can even help keep buildings without air conditioning cool.
Heat can be extremely dangerous, and a cool environment is critical for you, your family, and your pet's health and safety. Whether you have an air conditioner or not, these solutions can help keep your house cool and your energy bills low.
